Kingdom, just like any other game, has little patches and fixes to improve the gameplay for all Players. These patches are released to fix bugs and provide new content, but can also bring about new bugs. If this happens, players are advised to report new bugs on the Kingdom Steam Forum Page.

It is important to note that on August 9th, 2016, newlandsIcon NewLands Kingdom: New Lands was released, and the original game was renamed classicIcon Classic Kingdom: Classic. Update numbering was reset to Kingdom: New Lands V1.0.0, and all future updates to Kingdom: Classic ceased on that date.

newlandsIcon NewLands Patch 1.2.1 (January 4th, 2017) Edit

Hello everyone, tiny patch today which vanishes the Christmas update, though you will keep any items you gathered in your current game until you start over.

  • Fix bug where language always reverted to the OS language.
  • Unchristmas.
  • Drastically reduce priority of worker job "idle around catapult", so they will pick other tasks (build/repair) first.

newlandsIcon NewLands Kingdom: New Lands Update 1.2.0 (December 21st, 2016) - The Christmas Update Edit

There have been fables of an individual dressed in red running around the place, whatever could it mean? And why do our lamp posts taste like peppermint? You can't really blame us for licking the lamp post, they look too delicious not to. 

A Christmas update for Kingdom: New Lands is now live until the New Year! There are a few secrets in there, too, so happy hunting! We also took the time to tweak the game a bit, so this is an official update with patch notes below.

If for some reason you didn't enjoy the Christmas theme you can revert by going to the beta branch called "bah-humbug" in the game's properties tab.

Christmas Update (1.2.0) Notes

  • Differentiate archers into soldiers / hunters to make it clear when they will / won't hunt.
  • Better feedback for the warhorse ability
  • Farms show that they are frozen in winter
  • Tweak wind shader for trees to render faster
  • Better detection of controller type
  • Fix menu on touchscreen PC's (hopefully, as I couldn't test this)
  • Fixed animation bug for archers in towers
  • Update compression settings for the New Lands OST tracks
  • Banker doesn't give you back coins if you give him two or more on a day
  • Banker can now give you coins more than once during the day
  • Farms have a new art for the crops

newlandsIcon NewLands Kingdom: New Lands Update 1.1.0 (November 16th, 2016) Edit

The biggest update to Kingdom: New Lands has finally arrived! We've been listening to all your feedback since launch and one of your biggest requests is now in the game. 

You can now choose which of your unlocked islands to start on upon a restart of the game. Yup, that means you can start directly on the last island if you wanted to! Of course surviving the last island on a fresh start is a whole other matter ...

Other updates include various bug fixes and optimizations:

  • Let players choose which unlocked island to restart on after they lose the crown. 
  • Fix bug where farmlands would only appear to the right of the farmhouse 
  • Allow players to start a new game directly on any land from the map in the menu. 
  • Game now discards corrupt data in preferences/unlocks file, preventing a lock-up at tarting. 
  • Fix small audio bug. 
  • Increase how long farmers will be idle before looking for a different tool. 
  • Fix save/load bug where flying enemy would not register that it's holding a victim. 
  • Updated Rewired (controller support) to the latest version.

newlandsIcon NewLands Patch 1.1.0 BETA (November 9th, 2016) Edit

Hello Everyone!

A beta of the new patch is online in the beta branch with no password.

The main things that changed since 1.0.8 are:

  • Allow players to start a new game directly on any land from the map in the menu.
  • Let players choose which land to restart on after they lose the crown.
  • Fix bug where farmlands would only appear to the right of the farmhouse
  • Game now discards corrupt data in preferences/unlocks file, preventing a lock-up at starting.
  • Fix small audio bug.
  • Increase how long farmers will be idle before looking for a different tool.
  • Fix save/load bug where flying enemy would not register that it's holding a victim.

newlandsIcon NewLands Halloween Update (October 28th, 2016) - Scarier than a blood moon! Edit

We like getting into the spirit of things, so we came up with a fun little update for Halloween that will only be available until November 1st!

If it has been a little bit since you last visited Kingdom: New Lands, now is a good time! Just start a new game to take advantage of the update. Even if you don't finish your new game before November 1st, you can keep the creepy horse after the update expires until you die. And, since it's Kingdom and all, you will certainly die.

Dear Queens and Kings,

Today marks the one year anniversary since the launch of Kingdom! It has been a crazy, wonderful ride and even one year later we're still super excited about this game and, more so, absolutely grateful for your support. We're also still committed to improving and expanding the game 365 days after it has launched, and we will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

I'm taking this opportunity to launch patch 1.0.4, which fixes a bunch of annoying bugs in the current version. This is slightly ahead of schedule, so let me know if it's horribly borked!

The next patch—aside from a small spooky surprise next week—will be 1.1.0. For that version I'm working on a way to let you start a new game on any land immediately, probably through the map view from the menu.

Patch Notes:

  • Crash on Startup An empty save file will no longer crash the game during startup
  • Crash on Startup A corrupted save file will now start a fresh game instead of hanging. The corrupted save is NOT deleted, so it can be salvaged or sent to developer for support
  • Infinite blood moon The game no longer prevents a "safe state" when all currently alive enemies are far away. Previously, the game could get stuck in an "infinite blood moon" because a new wave is approaching from the furthest portal before the previous wave has been defeated.
  • Trolls & flyers adapt their speed based on the wave they are in, to stick together with the other enemies

  • Waves (especially trolls) now better predict the duration of their trip from portal to camp.

  • Fix visual glitch with torch light on a stag mount 
  • Prevent farmlands from overlapping each other 
  • Farmers are better at sticking to their assigned farm 
  • Allow farmlands to appear on either side of farmhouse until max amount is reached 
  • Fix bug where player could not purchase new shield after one is stolen by a troll 
  • An empty save file will no longer crash the game during startup 
  • A corrupted save file will now start a fresh game instead of hanging. The corrupted save is NOT deleted, so it can be salvaged or sent to developer for support 
  • Fix a bug that caused a single boat part to disappear after saving + loading 
  • Disallow touch controls on desktop platforms so the menu doesn't break

newlandsIcon NewLands Patch 1.0.3 (October 6th, 2016) Edit

Dear players,

Version 1.0.3 is a quick patch that only re-enables logging to the file that is stored in the game's folder. 

A bigger patch that fixes some issues including the "neverending blood moon" ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/496300/discussions/0/361798516951313016/ ) is underway and will be released in one or two weeks.

Apologies that patch speed has been a bit slow, got quite a few balls in the air atm with IndieCade coming up next week.

Hey everyone! We've gathered your feedback since the launch of Kingdom: New Lands and have a new patch that addresses a few things. 

Change List

  • Updated the game's engine from Unity 5.3.6f1 to 5.4.0f3
  • Updated to the latest Steam SDK
  • Russian Language support added
  • Fixed issue with Hermits loading incorrectly
  • Fixed several issues with knights and the boat
  • Optimized Audio Pooling (with rate limiter)
  • Tweaked worker's behavior when completing jobs far from the outer walls.Hopefully this creates a smoother experience for you all! Let us know how you like it.

It's here, it's here! It's finally here! Kingdom: New Lands is now available for Windows / Mac / Linux. You can grab it for $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99, plus throw in a few more bucks if you want the soundtrack (which includes new songs too). 

We can’t express just how much we appreciate the Kingdom community for being so patient while we tested New Lands, you all are the best. Now, go forth and journey into these New Lands and make your Kingdom flourish again.

classicIcon Classic Kingdom Update 1.2.0 (April 11th, 2016) Edit

First we just wanted to give a big thank you to ALL the fans who helped us out during the open beta for Kingdom update v1.2.0. The open beta changes are now ready for everyone to experience! The feedback has helped us deliver the best version of the game yet. Will your kingdom thrive, or will the new challenges be too much for your loyal citizens? 

We’ve done a ton of fixes, changes, and gameplay tweaks to the game, all detailed below.

Gameplay updates:

  • All characters can now run. They will run if they need to get to a job, or run away if they are threatened by enemies.
  • The AI has had a complete overhaul, it should process much faster and with less glitches. This means game runs significantly smoother under most conditions, even late in the game when many enemies show up.
  • New menu with more options: change sound / music volume separately. Allow change zoom level if available.
  • Collision resolution has been improved to decrease lag with many coins.
  • Saving (by quitting the game) is possible at night and in combat.
  • Borders aren't moved while a wall is under construction. This means archers will stay in position while walls are upgraded.
  • Knights will retreat to an intact wall if the outer wall takes too much damage.
  • Knight attack procedure makes them more consistent.
  • Overhaul for the boss monster.
  • Many, many fixes for bugs from the forums.
  • New (faster) horses.

Changes:

  • Enemy boulders damage maximum of 5 citizens
  • Make archers always run when redistributing
  • Portals stay closed longer before spawning
  • Workers won't work on things too close to a spawner
  • Deer are no longer scared of unarmed citizens
  • Final Wave no longer increases in difficulty before day 100, and is no longer easier before day 30.
  • Adjusted enemies to be a bit more threatening for earlier (day 20 and earlier) Blood Moons.
  • Reduced Fliers in several waves and delayed their introduction to a later Blood Moon Event
  • Only during the first Blood Moon when players encounter the Breeder is it alone.
  • Slight tweaks to Portal collapse waves.

Fixes:

  • Prevent load crash with incomplete teleporter
  • Prevent paying twice for border banner knight charge
  • Limit troll speed depending on wave, preventing them from arriving early
  • Fix shops disappearing after save/load during construction
  • Fix castle being under construction after load
  • Fix knights not immediately showing up in right color after load
  • Fix duplicate shield save/load exploit
  • Fix archers going to the wrong side after losing tool/reviving
  • Prevent "resume after winning" exploit
  • Make hidden outer portals invulnerable
  • Fix fog not disappearing
  • Fix visuals getting stuck after saving+loading in forest

The update is live right now. So jump on in, and let us know what you think! How long until your Kingdom is safe? 

To access the previous version of KINGDOM (v1.1.0), find Kingdom in your Steam library, right-click and select "Properties". From there find the BETAS tab. Once in the BETAS tab select "v1.1.0" in the opt in dropdown list. To go back to the new build (v1.2.0), repeat these steps and select "NONE - opt out of all betas" from the same drop down list on the BETAS tab. Also, all saves will remain for the previous version (v1.1.0) and for the new-current version (v1.2.0). FYI - there is no code required to switch between these.

How To Access the Open Beta

To access the new Open Beta, find Kingdom in your Steam library, right-click and select "Properties". From there find the BETAS tab. Once in the BETAS tab select "open_beta" in the opt in dropdown list. To go back to the regular build, repeat these steps and select "NONE - opt out of all betas" from the same dropdown list on the BETAS tab. Also, all saves will remain for the current version and for the Beta. FYI - no code required.

We set up a sub forum for this specifically and prefer you post there to help us keep track.

Hello fellow dwellers of Sidescroller Land!

There comes a day in every kingdom’s lifespan where new and wondrous technologies are adopted that change the face of a kingdom forever. Today is such a day in Kingdom. After tinkering with this newly added feature you’ll find that managing particular aspects of your kingdom will be much more efficient. However, in the spirit of discovery, we aren’t telling you exactly how to access this new endeavor. Read the notes below for a hint, oh sovereign leader, and best of luck taking your land back from the Greed!

Gameplay Changes

  • Changes to the Portals. This is a significant change and that’s all we’re saying for now.
  • Unassigned citizens will notice dropped equipment outside the main area of your Kingdom.
  • Sound from a destroyed portal can now be heard anywhere on the map.

Bugs Fixed

  • Fixed crash caused by vagrants in the late game.
  • Fixed vagrant camp selection issue.
  • Fixed Steam overlay menu bug

  • Fixed Vagrant camp exploit
  • Fixed infinite tools from merchants
  • Fixed flying monster getting stuck
  • Fixed gold bag collider and coin freezing
  • Fixed Day 10 achievement not registering when portal defeated earlier than day 10

Gameplay

  • Catapult:
    • Engineers are assigned to the catapult unless new task are assigned near them i.e. upgrade a wall near them, they do it.
    • Catapult can be destroyed by enemies. The catapult has 4 HP.
    • New catapults can be bought
  • Others:
    • Grass grows past fertile land patches.

Miscellaneous Reduced load times Auto set language to OS Saves are now by version, so each update will start a new game the first time running. ​ Legacy Beta Branch If you had a save you were playing and the game was updated you can switch to the Legacy branch to continue playing that save. To access the legacy branch right click on "Kingdom" in your library and select "properties". When properties opens select the "BETAS" tab and in the dropdown list under "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" select "legacy'.

Hi Epic Rulers of Land Sidescroll!

We have a new update fresh off the presses... build monkey... farm, or something like that. This update is focused on some critical bugs and very light on gameplay changes. As always, we'll keep updating the game with fixes and further down the road some new content. Once plans are locked in place we'll share as much as we can with you. Thanks for the support! :)

Fixes ​*Loading Into Black Screen​: Game wouldn't properly load save resulting in a black screen for the player after the horse running load screen. If you have this issue still please email us at IveFallenAndICantGetUp@rawfury.com with the .dat save file attached. Refer to this post on finding your save file.

  • Invisible Bolder​: fixed issue where sometimes the boulder thrown by the big greed monster wasn't rendered.
  • Double Tower​: Fixed issue where towers could stack on each other causing multiple towers in one spot.
  • Invisible Walls​: Fixed tutorial invisible walls from remaining after loading from a save.
  • Two Tools For One​: Fixed issue where a tool could be picked up by two citizens at the same time.
  • Winning in 25 Days Achievement​: Fixed issue where winning on day 25 or less didn't unlock easier achievements.
  • Sound Volume Saving​: Fixed issue where changes to the sound volume didn't save from a previous session.

Gameplay Turned off friendly fire for catapult. It was amusing but too often perceived as a little unfair or a bug. ​

A workaround: Upper left of the client, click "Steam" > "Settings" > "Interface". Uncheck "Notify me about additions or changes to my games, new releases, and upcoming releases" near the bottom. Next, go to "In-Game" and uncheck "Enable Steam browser Overlay" near the top.

classicIcon Classic Kingdom Update 1.0.1 (October 25th, 2015)Edit

Here it is, our first official update. This contains a hotfix, gameplay balance tweaks, and repairs a small number of issues. These are listed below.

Bugs Fixed

  • Fix a bug that could cause the game to get stuck in the loading screen under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug where items stolen from a shop would still count towards its maximum stock.
  • Brazilian Portuguese added to the language selector.

Gameplay Changes

  • Portal Defense Waves: reduced rapid increase after day 24.
  • Portals: doubled HP
  • Cost for Knights to attack portals increased from one coin to six coins.
  • Changes to horse endurance
    • Increased run speed
    • Tiny reduction to walk speed
    • Increased well feed duration
    • Small increase to tired duration
    • Increased reserve stamina gain
    • Shortened standing stamina regen

Additions

  • Added 4 achievements
  • Added FLAC version of the OST
  • Menu now shows current day
